Perhaps it is correct after all , are you sure there are no oil leaks? There is a felt under tray which can easily absorb a litre or two of oil without it dripping on the ground ...

I have had the engine cover off, had a good look round the engine and there are no visible oil leaks. When I get back to the car this evening I will get down to the under tray to see if I can feel any oil in the felt, but from what I could see of the under tray when I had the engine cover off it seemed clean and dry. I am of the opinion that adding 0.5l of oil will be a good start seeing as it is giving me a low oil reading. Take it for a run then see where things stand. |

Well yay for Volvo ingenuity........ NOT
The wonderful Electronic Oil Level Sensor gives reading of below Minimum...... and the cure..... add 200ml of oil...... yes 200ml is the difference between that sensor reading as if you have 0 oil in the car and being at maximum. That sensor is not fit for purpose. It should be removed and replaced with a dipstick. The engine has the port for it, it's just capped off. An excellent way for a dealer to scam extra money off people....IMHO |

Make sure they recalibrate the sensor at next oil change , exactly 5 litres should go in then recalibrate the oil level sensor ..as I said it is very sensitive therefore accurate when serviced properly .

I've never seen the oil level display on my car, the option on the trip computer is always off.
Does anyone know where the oil level is on VIDA? Cant see it on the ECU Huw |

Just a thought but are you giving the start button a long press when trying to check the oil? Then use the scroll wheel to find the oil level. There are certain conditions that need to be met before it will give you a reading eg it must have been sat for a while. If you give the start button a short press it will just power on the stereo etc. A bit like ignition position I and II on old fashioned cars when they had actual keys...
