Default V70 cd player help please.

Hi.
I've just bought my first volvo, an 05 V70. Very pleased with it so far. The only problem I have is the cd player sticking. It is the 6cd changer version, not sure if it's a HU-650 or 850. It plays some cds but not others. Then periodically it will get stuck when playing a cd, or won't even start playing a cd, giving an error message.

What are my options please? I'm guessing a new unit will be exorbitant. Is it repairable? Do I replace with an aftermarket unit?

Any ideas welcome please. Thankyou.

I just bought a hu-605 off ebay for £38 so not to expensive cheaper than getting some body to repair it.

If it was like mine a gently smack to the LHS of the footwell worked quite well (of course at your own risk), mine appeared to sick where it had not been used much, not had a problem for well over a year now.

Be aware of SH parts as I understand they are car unique and are coded fr the car electronically to stop theft etc. Sure someone else ill verif that

Pretty certain that this is correct.

+1. Audio equipment is always signatured to the car for obvious reasons. However have seen posts recording success in fitting salvaged units from other cars if they are "exactly" matched to the original equipment, ie part no/year of manufacture etc. But this does not always work or work properly. You need to do some extensive research on previous posts on this subject before spending money.

I'd not bother with it, cheaper to fit a grom unit.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions. I've been to a local repair centre who said if it's anything more than cleaning the lens, I could be looking at £250 - if they can get the parts. There is an ipod cable attached to the cd player, so I think the cheapest and most flexible option would be to get some street cred and go and buy myself an ipod.

Thanks again.
