Default Failed trip display

My 2003 V70 2.4T

Mileometer and trip panel was blank (no pixels) on starting car today. Has stayed blank since. Equivalent temp display panel in rev counter and all other electrics fine. Cruise still works although the text to say it is on is blank.

Likely cause please?

Excuse no search this time. Fiddly smartphone browser.

TVM.

Quite a common problem relating to dry joints on a certain chip in the display unit.

Have a read through the following thread.

Thanks, both. Still travelling abroad but home tomorrow so will follow up then. I hope it is just a dry joint that I can fix myself. Stay tuned.

Thanks very much again both, and Chris gets the prize. Just borrowed a torch and found the display is still there; correct mileage and trip visible. Assumed backlight was LED but glad I was wrong and also that there is no dry joint.
