Default C30 issues with pictures

Volvo c30 1.6d 2010 diesel

Can some one help please. Started car yesterday and it was making a whooshing sound like the turbo was failing. I've taken it to a mechanic today and hes checked it over and found a hose that was not connected to anything but he also couldn't find where it should go. It looks like it comes from behind the engine, it then bends around the oil filter and towards the turbo but he cant see where it connects.

He says it looks like it should connect to the turbo actuator but couldn't see where. Also said on ford focus engines (same engine) the actuator has two hoses going to it where as mine only has one, he thinks that some one has changed the turbo actuator at some point to a different one and the hose maybe now redundant but hes not sure and suggested I asked on volvo forums.

He gave the turbo a once over and said it looks fine with no play and finns look good, did say their was a little more oil than he wanted to see but nothing to worry about.

He hooked up a smoke machine and checked the hoses for leakes and nothing even checked the inter cooler for leaks too and it all seemed ok.

So my picture is a little **** but can some one tell me if there car has 2 pipes on the actuator or knows where it should go.

Thanks

Actually that's a huge help mate thank you, it proves my actuator is the original one and should only have one hose. All I need to figure out now is where the loose hose actually does go

Thanks

I have a different engine so cant comment on the 1.6

However when I swapped my air box for a K&N filter on previous car and it was then "wooshing". So it might be worth checking that there is no gaps, loose connections from the air filter which might be sucking in more air from somewhere.

Sometimes pipes mysteriously dead end... maybe put out a request for someone with same engine to take a pic and see if its the same?
