And PSA for those that don't know is a Peugeot, Citroen and Ford affair,
but possibly licenced out to others. Ford 1.4/1.6 D...............PSA Peugeot 1.4/1.6 D..........PSA Volvo 2.0D...................Most likely a Ford base. Volvo V40/50 a Focus is it not? If Ford still having "relations" with Volvo then engines most likely PSA or reworked variants thereof. What CC is latest D3? 1.6? I smell PSA ...lol Nighty nite Ford/pug/citroen Lovers, i'm off on a badge exchange mission to miff some staunch Volvo owners.. Haha, I love me I do..LOL Last edited by 4candles; Apr 16th, 2015 at 01:13. |

Hi all..
Back to the original problem. All is not too well (I don't think). Been a couple of weeks since all has been reset. I am getting a gudder when accelerating hard 2-3k revs. I am getting a LOT of diesel soot smoke also at this time. Power is down as full throttle. Fine all the other times. Maybe more tappity as well. I am going to check the tension tomorrow in case it has slipped, but I am guessing that something is stuck/broke. So what could that be, and what can I do. A valve bent maybe?? If driving 0-80% throttle, all is perfect. Please help, or my beloved car is off to the scrappy.. |

Feel for you mate..
If these are new symptoms since you first did your belt, and knowing it slipped a tooth or two, i think its time to get it looked at by a decent garage. It really needs belt checking again but moreover it needs a compression check to see if any valves have been bent. |

How much do you think a compression test will be on a D5, and how do they do it? I assume it will determine a cylinder issue, but now what is wrong with it unless the head comes off? I am currently thinking of trading it in, the garage will just auction it off, or give it away knowing its age? |

Not sure regards costs of a compression check.
On a petrol its easy DIY via spark plugs, On Diesel its via injectors, and if they come out easy enough then maybe an hour, hour and halfs work, its only definitive way to check if valves bent, other than removing head. A bent valve, whether an inlet or an exhaust will give a low compression reading, maybe yours is just barely clipped, thus givng near normal performance. i'd say £80 will tell you. |
