not sure to be honest if that part fits the old bracket just fit it in my opinion, no point in making extra work.

Hooked up my vacuum guage to the solenoid on the airbox (this is at the point the hoses run off to the engine pads).

So this is to check that vacuum is being sent/received at the pads, i.e to rule out the pump, solenoid etc.

Attached are the pictures:

Picture 1 - the setup (note my guage reads less than zero to start with)
Picture 2 - engine off
Picture 3 - Engine idling

(when reved the guage drops back down to zero)

I think this means that everyting up to the pads is working correctly (Mike?)

I did notice a big difference in vibration with the pads disconnected.

Once my vacuum device arrives i will test each pad

yes thats correct Steve the pads are working as they should, you need a vac now to the pads to see which one is leaking.

Got my vacuum bleeder now and hooked itup to the pads disconected the pipe from the solenoid)

Pumped it up to around 18Hg and observed.

Takes around 1 minute to fall down to 5hg then the rate of leakage drops and it then takes around 30 seconds to drop to 4hg.

Does this sound like the pads are leaking?

Ok, now tested each pad individually and the front pad is the culprit. The rear one holds vacuum (no leaks) but with the front one the vac drops off rapidly.

Next job - replace front engine pad!

This also ties in with REDSHEEPRIDDS findings that changing the front pad cured vibration in reverse.

Surprised really, i thought it was usually the rear pad that went first butit seems to hold vac
