Default Right hand drive shaft

Hi Guys, I'm after a bit of advice if possible?

My 2006 D5 XC90 has a small split in the inner offside front drive shaft gaiter and is throwing out a slight grease arc in the surrounding area.

I'm told that this flexible rubber gaiter isn't available as a separate part from Volvo, you have to buy and replace the complete drive shaft!

Someone has mentioned that if we remove the gaiter and take to a motor factors they should be able to match it to a CV joint gaiter of some sort which we can then stretch over the joint with an expander tool? Has anyone ever done this or is a complete new drive shaft the way to go?

Any comments are welcome, thanks,

Paul

Volvo main dealer parts desk!!

Don't suppose you know a part number so I can challenge them? They actually showed me an exploded view on screen, presumably from a parts manual or a VIDA download and it did say 'not available separately' next to the gaiter, hence my question.

Thanks.

Hi
If main dealer doesn't do them, seems to be some on eBay so I would imagine your local motor factors will do them.

OP.
A fellow owner sourced a boot from volvopartstrade on ebay.
If I remember right, they're attached to Mill Garages, a North East main dealer.
