Key Fob Stopped Working
I did a quick search, but may be I did the search badly as not much came up.
Anyway, all the remote functions on my key fob have stopped working, so have to use the blade if Im using the key. Replaced the battery, and the contacts look good, but still no joy. It did come back to life for one hour last night with the old battery, but its now dead again. Nada, nothing. What are my options, and are any of them cheap? Or, is it a trip to the stealer for them to suck through their teeth before raping my wallet? It a MY 2009 V70 if that makes any difference. |

Have you got just the one fob or have you another to try? I've got 3 with my XC70 and one is now showing as needing new battery when inserted into the dashboard.
An increasingly common problem now is localised interference - do you have same issues when parked away from home?

Ok. I'd be tempted to try another battery (or swap between fobs) and if that doesn't work, I'd just use the working fob and keep the other as a spare.

I had a similar problem late last year with the fob for my V50 (2005). After 12 years constant use it was knackered. Replacement from dealer was about £150.

Replaced batteries on my 2 x Fobs for V70 D5 2008 with no problems about 3 years ago... still working fine .... on my wife's Honda one Fob packed up and just wouldn't work even after new battery fitted ... Honda wanted nearly £250.00 for new fob and re-code with car .... sent fob away to firm in Leicester .. complete re-furbishment and new fob casing ( no re-code required .. same car and fob) - £70.00 including postage ... took about 3/4 days ... works fine now.
There's a lesson in there somewhere ! Topper Last edited by Topper; Feb 21st, 2018 at 12:09. |
