Does that 4 year schedule apply to a 2011 S60 D5 AWD? My Google skills have failed me in finding more information on what/where/how much.

What about rear differential oil change?

The oil changes with the Haldex and even more so with the diff are controversial.

Audi use the same Haldex as Volvo and insist on regular Haldex oil changes at around 36k if I remember correctly. Volvo say it never need changing.

No one seems to recommend changing the diff oil as far as I've been able to find out.

Changing oil will never be harmful though.

I agree, 1 litre of 75-90w diff oil is a pretty cheap investment as long as there is no doubt as to the type and quantity. I'm still used to gearbox oil being changed at the same time as the timing belt and this concept of sealed for life is a bit weird to me.

Has anyone ever flushed his Geartronic box himself?
I have a 2012 XC60 and I'd like to hear from it.
The thing is we are supposed to plug a Vida right?
RoyMacDonald said we have to tell the Vida that the oil has been changed...
Why? To reset some parameters? Or only to reset the counter? Because I don't see why the engine would work differently as soon as the oil has been changed...

You have been told by several people why you should use the proper tools for this job, yet seem determined to ignore the explanations that you have already been given.

When you have to undo a nut do you use a set of pliers or a spanner? The will both achieve the objectbut only one will do it correctly and not damage the nut.

It seems you chose your nickname right... Mr Grumpy... ;-)
Your first post was almost agressive now it’s just the same...
Well my advice to you Mr Grumpy is don’t be agressive! We are here, all of us to share our experiences! If you feel offended by not being the only reference to someone start by answering nicely, it will help being taken seriously...
Now if you need a more precise answer... Here as you see I am trying to have the opinion of people who have experienced the Vida during the operation. It’s another point of view. Maybe with more technical details than some who talk judgmentaly... just saying...
Well that was nice talking to you... Love..

Nothing change the fact that you have been supplied with the answer several times by several people yet you persist in asking the same question and in multiple threads.

People here are very willing to help, but they do expect and quite reasonably expect that the help offered is used and not that you keep asking the question until you get the answer that you want.

Why not go ahead and do it yourself without the correct tools, that is clearly the answer you want - it isn’t the advice you have been given though.

Sir,
I think you made your point as well as I made mine. So unless you want to take my request to something personal I think we should leave our conversion to here don't you think so?
Wish you well.

The oil degrades over time and the gearbox needs to adjust the gear changes to suit the condition of the oil. It should adjust itself over time though when it detects different conditions, however you will get a transmission service required message come up on the dash every time you start up if the software is not aware the oil has been changed when it thinks it should have been.

I changed the gearbox oil in my 2012 XC60 back in November using the drain fill method due to a clunk into drive. Purchased 12L of the correct fluid from Volvo and the drain plug washers etc.
At only 54k the oil was severely black and degraded which suprised me as this XC60 D5 that i bought in June 2017 did not have a tow bar fitted.
Procedure is easy and took about 50 mins from start to finish and the oil level was set with Vida at 53 degrees ,also oil count was reset.
Test drove and found the gearbox was badly slipping when pulling away and gear changes were erratic.
I really did think i had knackered this gearbox and almost put the old oil back in to make things ok.
2 weeks on after the oil change and the TCM adapted to how i drive and the gear changes are now 95 % better but still with a slight slip in 1st gear before the tc clutch engages.
So just beware changing the fluid can have negative effects if the clutch packs , bands and valve block is already worn due to it's detergents and viscosity etc.
