dealer confirmed that mine will be delivered on the 6/10... nearly two months in advance!

T8 inscription
-''luxe'' pack that includes : HUD, pano.roof, ventilated/massaging seats, tailored dashboard, led headlights with shadow technology and front and rear sensors.etc....
individual options:
-4c air suspension
-360 surround cam.
-park assist pilot
- B&W audio.

the car is ONYX BLACK with dark tinted windows, amber interior with dark flame birch and (this is not offered in the UK) wood/leather steering wheel.

the dealer informed me that I have to expect ''at least'' a two hours formation with a Volvo tech. as part of the delivery process.

so, it seems that after nearly 40 years of driving I have to learn again how a car works

Congratulations on your early delivery. Regarding your handover you will find that two hours is hardly sufficient and you will be amazed at the amount there still is to learn.

When I picked my XC90 up from the dealer, the actual car hand over was approx 15 mins, after waiting so long for the car and reading the downloaded owners manual over and over again I was more clued up than the salesman, he was gutted, he wanted to show me everything, all he did was set up VOC, I just took the keys off him and drove into the sunset, the paperwork etc took longer, so in total approx 2 hours.

How many hours did you spend reading the manual?

Lost count, had it on my tablet and I was reading it for weeks while waiting for delivery, obviously there were still a few things to learn but doubt these would have been covered in the hand over and going on this forum helped with those.

Me too. The lady at my handover was very good, but i think I knew everything she told me. Useful to have the sunroof demoed as that's not intuitive, and the auto handbrake thingy (which is v useful).

being a pilot I'm quite obsessed by manuals.
I went through the entire 700 pages of the owner's manual twice and then rehearsed the online manual section by section several times....

I'm interested to find out what this ''volvo tech'' is going to ''teach'' me.
in my opinion there is nothing better than real life experience to find out how things works.
manual only inform you how things should work real life teach you how things would work.this forum is, most probably, the best ''manual'' a new owner could have.

Oddly enough the sunroof was one of the things the salesman tripped up on, he told me you had to keep your finger on the switch to retract the blind all the way back, I tried it and retracted it with one touch like the windows. He said that was something else he had learnt about the car. One thing that did trip me up on the first day was when I went to my caravan storage to try out the towbar and electrics and got out of the car opened the storage compound gates, got back in the car and could not drive into the compound, the car would not budge, it took me a while to figure out it was because I did not have my seatbelt fastened (as only going through gate to stop and close gates) while auto hold was engaged, pressing the button to disengage auto hold released brakes and allowed car to move, or you need to put seatbelt on.

Well I've had that phone call and guess what, it hasn't arrived at dealership today.
I've now have to hope that it might turn up tomorrow.
Anyone else been luckier?

No, no news for me either. I haven't contacted my dealer yet.
