Default 17" or 18" Alloys?

My XC60 has 18" alloys and I find the ride quite firm over our local potholed roads. Would changing these for 16" or 17" wheels make much of a difference?

Cheers,

Sven

yeh 17's would make a difference but you really need to look at the tire you have on and the profile.

What tyre pressures are you running and what model have you got

I swapped from 18" to 16" (and associated increase in tyre profile) for this very reason with my S60.
Noticeable increase in comfort over the potholed roads on the commute.

17's ride better, 18's look better.

Is that a fair statement?

I have 17" for winter that have a higher pressure than the 18" summer to give me the same feel.

drop the pressure in your 18" to 35 (or even lower) or so and that will give you the 'softness" you want, but tyre wear and fuel usage will increase if you go too low.

Yes but you can't see them when you're driving
