Default D4 sump plug tightening torque

Hi,

My haynes manual lists 38Nm, which I couldn't even do lying in front of the car. Does it really have to be so tight?

P.S. My car is a 2014.

Thanks

Just done my oil yesterday, 2011 D5 and Haynes said 35Nm. Its not that tight, its hand tight plus slightly more, a click from the torque wrench and you know its correctly tightened. It will be to compress the washer slightly so it won't unscrew or drip oil.

You don't want to guess and over tighten as you risk stripping the thread then you will have a bill to rethread or buy a new sump pan.

Make sure your reading the correct measurement, Nm not lbs ft.

If your in doubt about the torque just phone Volvo and I'm sure they'll give you the correct one.

One thing in want to know is why they never put the plug on the front or the bottom for easy access!?

38Nm is nothing.
Let's hope you never have to change a wheel.

Or take the timing pulley off. 300Nm isn't it?
