Dan. I have had a quote which I think I will be accepting in the next couple of days. However, I will pm my policy number to you so you can check your quote. If you think you can offer a better deal please make this offer via a reply to the pm or by email. I really don't want to discuss it over the phone without know the revised figure, if there is one.
Thanks for your reply. |

Just bringing this thread to a close. Dan did pass on my info to Adrian Flux and I was offered a small reduction which when rechecked on the phone couldn't be improved. On the advice of another Amazon owner, I had tried Peter S Taylor, a small classic car broker in Hove Sussex. They offered me a quote which was less than the one I had paid to AF the previous year so very acceptable to me. My cover does include breakdown and legal expenses and came in at £134.18 inclusive. That was for 3k miles and £8500 value. I have a locked garage in a locked compound. They are aware that I'm 80 and had a claim this time last year when my 240 Estate was stolen so no extra charges for those. The basic comprehensive cover would have been £81.68. They don't charge extra for agreed value, subject to acceptance, if you send in the usual 6 pictures. This is often charged extra. If no pictures the car value is "as per the market" which depending on your car can be a plus or a minus. They also do buy back salvage after an accident which is often denied. Breakdown £35 with DAS.
So, AF last year £147, this year £254 reduced to £217 on the second quote. My renewal with Peter Taylor £134.18. That also noted the increase in value from £6k to £8.5k with this policy. AF quotes were for the £6k value. I asked them if I could mention them here and they said that was fine. Nothing in it for me but they might be able to offer you a useful quote for you too. They have a website where you can submit details for a quote. Thanks for the other posters that replied and gave me ideas of where to look. |
