Just to add something here , I have a 240 and a 740 both saloons and both 2.0 litres . The 740 has nearly 200,000 miles on it while the 240 has around 110,000 . they are boith road legal and shared between me and the wifey , BUT I do drive the 240 more , while the 740 is comfy theres just something quirky about driving the 240 .

Talking its gotta be

hi

For me anyway having the driving choice of an s80, s70 and mkv gti my 88 240 glt wins hands down. As dodger says the 240 has pedigree . I have noticed that a lot of people ( young and old alike ) admiring my 240 , some covertly other glaringly out right

keep the 240

regards

get rid of the 940 and spend the 2k on the 240. replace the rear sill and have the arch repaired and spend the rest on other bits, she'll be good for another 10 years

Only 10 years?

You underestimate the power of Volvo..

If it would be possible, I would say run both. You could have one taxed for winter, then the other for summer which would keep you with one available car to use.
You'd then have a back-up should you need it or require two (just tax the other again)..
But I can understand financial constraints can limit what you are able to do...
Both are pretty solid and fairly indestructible and both have their appeal....

Im a great believer in this system. When my 340 refused to play the game last month all I had to do was whip the cover of the 240 and I got to work on time!

Compared to more modern cars 200/700/900 serries are cheap thus making multiple ownership feasible................

Smile Thanks

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments have decided will advertise the 940 for a while and see what happens, but am only willing to lose so much money in one go!

I do quite like the 940.

Will update you with what happens over the next couple of weeks. Will put it in the local rag for about £2k as cars are more expensive over here with VRD (vechile reigstartion duty).

Liked the idea of a hybrid but want to keep the simplisty of the 240 engine, whcih sounds nice with the new exhaust!

Regards

Yes, the 240 is easy to repair bodywise and they have that something about them.

At the end of the day its what car you feel happier in really isnt it . We could all rattle on forever saying to you keep the 240 ( which I think you should do as I previously said ) its what you feel the need to do is isnt it !
