492 Savile Grey for my S80.

I vowed never to buy a grey car as many greys are awful in my view. It was one of two S80s that I viewed. The other was blue. I preferred the Savile Grey. It's quite a dark colour so that was a plus, and has a subtle shade of blue in it too.

In fact, one of my favourite colours on a car is Tenorite Grey from Mercedes-Benz. A neighbour down the road has an E-Class in that Tenrite Grey colour and it looks very nice. Volvo's Savile Grey is almost the same colour, but just a tiny bit darker.

Oyster grey. Not my first choice, but you can't see it when your're sat inside . I keep telling myself its more classy than silver. Only had it since Saturday so still finding my way round it, but other than the fuel consumption and road tax (it's a 6 cylinder 3.2 litre petrol) I'm loving it.

Previous Volvos have been Nautic Blue x2, silver and Barents Blue

Mine is what's in the brochure called Twilight Bronze (700). In the workshop they call it cardboard brown, when they have a good day. What they associate it with on bad days you can figure out on your own.

I'm opted for Osmium Grey for the XC90, saw it in the showroom and it looked rather nice! Well, I thought so anyway ;-)

I came to a conclusion that my next car would be anything but dark. Even after it's been thoroughly hand washed and dried; and you drive it off, it leaves water marks all over the car. People with black cars will understand me.
My first new car - 1st August 1983 was a black XR2 Fiesta and I know EXACTLY what you mean about black cars - I sold it about 18 months later (traded for second hand, white, XR3i), to this day I have never had another black car.....

.....they show the dirt like hell, show tiny scratches after carefully hand washing and leathering, I was polishing mine about once a month to keep the paintwork scratch free.

White might be trendy, but it is also (along with brighter silvers) much more practical, shows the dirt less and fine scratches not at all. My wife likes the XC60 in black, she's not the one washing and polishing it - so we agreed on another white car, having had a pearl white Subaru Legacy and her driving a white Fiat 500.

Trouble is now every neioghbour now also has a white car - my Subaru was the first in 2008 and seems to have started a trend, Citoen, Renault, Vauxhall they've all gone white around here!

My v70 is called willow green I think but looks more like gold but with a green fleck depending where the light hits it.
