300 Pannels & Engine Swop's

Does anyone know where I could get a front inner wheel arch repair pannel from ? It has rusted away round where the outer wing bolts to the inner, but only on the arch itself ?

I have known this car from virtually new (only owned it a year though !) & know that there's been no accident damage to it, so I was surprised to find no seam sealer around the front wing when I took it off ! This would account for some of the rust problem in this area, as the water running down the gulley on the top of the wings has been seeping through on to the inner arch top !

Has anyone else known this ? Also, does anyone know where I could get a 360 front valance ?

Also, as the clutch is also on its way out, I thinking of doing an engine swop. I would like to put the 16v unit in, as it's such a flexible unit, but finding a good one at a good price is like rocking horse sh*t. Plus there's the special engine mounts & manifold to source. Therefore, I am thinking of putting a 2.3 in out of a 740 as these have 131bhp compared to the 240's 125bhp - has anyone got a decent one lurking around ? I think the only thing to swop on this is the sump & oil pick up - isn't it ?

Did you try Volvo? I got a boot panel for a saloon from them a few years ago, they seem to do everything. The smaller bits were cheap enough.

Other than that just cut a good one out of a scrap yard. I'm doing that with parts of sills.

I saw a 2.3 16v in the breakers a while back...they rarely charge more than £100 for an engine....bummer!

Mine has had a rust repair to the wheelarch as you describe...seems to be a common problem!
