Pity you didn't put this up on Saturday. I could have had one in the car when I went past your house on the way back and forth between Chatham and the Bentley show on Sunday. When I last met, you were going to Essex a lot so if you still are maybe collect from Chatham by arrangement?

They are a standard thread. Not unusual for the threads to get a bit out of shape due to drum movement. Sometimes the key doesn't seat smoothly and gives a false sense of tightness when tightening the nut. A few road miles and the key seats and there can then be a little looseness. At the cost of a new split pin that can be quickly checked after jacking up and popping off the hubcap. Clean up any sharp edges on the key and slot for a good fit. Hopefully it's the nut that's damaged and not the shaft. New nuts available. Volvo don't quote a torque setting, just TIGHT and then back off enough to get the split pin fitted.
