Erratic MPG
Just noticed that I posted this in the wrong location..hoping for some feedback
I am very happy with my 2023 XC 60 B5 petrol model but it seems to have a rather erratic rate of consumption, from between 27 mpg and 37 mpg although it usually settles around 31 mpg. Just wondering if this is strange behaviour or does the engine need a tweak? Can anyone advise if this Google model features City Safe? |

Are the 27mpg and 37mpg figures representative of mileage over full tanks?
Mpg can vary due to factors including journey types and temperature. Given similar journeys and similar temperatures mpg should be fairly stable. I can confirm that your car will have City Safety.

Erratic MPG
Hi and thank you for your comments…….27and 37 mpg are the high and low consumption values on a full tank… I would say that my normal average is around 31mpg which is a bit lower than I Volvo published numbers. If 31ish is the true value then that’s ok….just want to get my car fixed if something is wrong…….mileage is approx 6500 miles.

Hmm, I always worry when someone, anyone half expects to achieve anything like what a manufacturer quotes for mpg.

Things causing variables would be, hills, road surface ,different drivers, ambient temperature and weather conditions, Tyre pressures, air pressure on the day, and how much extra weight the car has on board. all these factors can raise or lower fuel consumption and if one day you get them all negative and the next day they are all positive it can make the difference you describe.
