Fuel pump urgently needed...
I'm hoping for the earlier style pump with the glass fuel filter top.
Our second car ('64 P1800) is off the road at the moment and we need it yesterday! Hope you can help. Thanks. Gordon |

They're rebuildable, buy the kit if it's not working properly.
I'll have a pump, but I can't guarantee how well it'll work. |

Thanks for that mate.
Actually, I did buy the kit and rebuild it, but have been unable to get it to work! I really need the car back on the road so I am prepared to throw in the towel on this one and remember why I tend to stick to panel making / bodywork! I'll have another tinker with it, but TBH it's not long before it will be flying through the workshop window! If you can find one for me, let me know what would persuade you to part with it. Thanks, Gordon |

I suspect that it's a knack or down to luck but I had problems hooking up the push rod to the lever due to the easily damaged seal that it goes through. What problems are you having Gordon? See below......
I did my one quite a while ago and the diaphragm in the kit was made up wrong. The two cup plates which sandwich the diaphragm were reversed which restricted the movement. This would have quickly wrecked the diaphragm. Pictures of the kit and copies from the parts book made the fault obvious and Brookhouse sent me another but it was the same and probably from the same batch. Hopefully corrected now. Fit a later pump and swap in the glass top when you get one sorted. |

Hi Derek,
Thanks for sharing that. I can see now that it is the repair kit at fault and not me! I can get the pump to work alright, but it just doesn't create enough vacuum to pull enough fuel through. Confirmed if I fill the petrol tank with compressed air. I've stuck a later type pump on for the meantime as I just need the car back on the road. Think I'll have to talk to Simon at Brookhouse about it. Regards, Gordon |
