I'm sure this is a car that Hamish and Adam got involved in ! Hamish supplied the Turbo SAC fitted it and then it was bought down for mapping. It was a while back, but I remember the SAC car as a being a 'quick one'.
I also remember when Hamish came back from 'Well LaMe' he was amazed that such idiots had never killed anybody with getting people to sit on the slam panel during a run on a 300hp car !

Nats,

Yeah it's a bit crazy indeed, good roller set ups don't need to resort to this IMO i've seen a Pulsar pushing 400 lb/ft and 350ish bhp need 4 folk sat in it not to climb up and slip the wheels, not a rollers I go back to.

The one I normally use for my cars and Jacq's T4 etc managed to run a micra with a pulsar engine in it, still fwd, weighs 680kg and made 374 bhp, and had crappy remoulds on at the time, no slip, no climbing, no folk sat on the slam panel etc and power properly measured, the same car when running less boost and power, went to a different rollers and they had guys on the front to keep it in the rollers. Just goes to shows a proper set up can measure the power of "tricky" cars just by being good, and strapping the car right.

Now I knew of someone who'd turbocharged the stock 1.3 Micra engine, but fitting an SR20DET, and a worked one at that? Nuts...

cheers

When a car get's dyno'ed are the rollers loaded up to get a more realistic power figure ?

Or do the rollers spin freely all the time ?

Cheers

Chris

They're loaded, pretty heavily. Naturally the rollers have some weight in themselves, but it would still be rather like 'driving' the car on stands without a load applied to the rollers...and you'd struggle to give the engine enough load to get a decent idea of its output.

cheers

lol, it's road legal, driven to events, he used to use it every day but it's a bit sparse and loud for early morning starts.

Just the other week myself and the owner were sat at crail waiting on our respective flat beds lol, after we both snapped a driveshaft on the same day, Micra is a bit faster than me though, was the first car to take my scottish fwd record off me at crail.

Currently it has made a 12.1 @ 127mph pass.

Here's a vid of it doing around the mid 12 area racing a modified subaru impreza with a 13.4 best.

Oh man, that Micra is AWESOME. I love how it's 100% standard looking apart from the GTiR wheels. That's got to be a contender for the TOTB FWD section?

cheers
