You are correct on that as that is all anyone can comment about...

Every Volvo i have owned in about 30yrs the speedo was accurate.

It was accurate mostly with GPS and i know GPS some say is inaccurate but how accurate does one want to get?


In my experience the 10% manufacturers say there speedo has to be fast by is not so as my Merc. is fast but not anywhere near 10%.

Try owning a Volvo 240. The speedos are vague at best above 70mph.

Had my first 240 off the clocks at 120 once but I swear I wasn't going any faster than 110.

I had a nova like that, to say it wasn't a standard engine is quite the understatement, from memory i think we used a 1400 head on a 1600 engine, left the 4 speed 1.2l gearbox as it was and stuck a twin choke weber off a 2l cortina on it, it used to literally do this, bet I was barely doing 115 at most though.

GL or SE? Either way on Virgos the speedo would be way out on that. All 240s have terrible speedo accuracy.

I am running 50's on my 16", if i put i back to 55's the speedo will be spot on but i like the safety margin of 2 or 3 mph. My 70mph is 67 by my gps.
