Default Replacing overrun pulley on alternator and idler pulleys

I have replaced the alternator overrun pulley and plastic idler pulleys on the auxiliary drive of my 2003 D5 V70 today. I did some research so I could buy INA parts without paying Volvo prices.

The overrun pulley has been superseded and looks wider than the old one but works perfectly. The INA part number is 535 0072 10. If you get this part on Ebay it costs about 22.10 with free postage.

the Idler pulleys were a bit more difficult to pin down. I found that part number INA 531 0760 10 were identical to the old ones. I found a pair of these on Ebay for 29 with free postage.

Hope this might help someone. The INA Schaeffler catalogue online is good for tracking down cheaper volvo parts and their parts are original on a lot of Volvos.

I bought Volvo bits at the belt change in 2010. The new alternator pulley had a bigger front flange and the fixing screw for the aux belt tensioner pulley changed from a hex head to a flush type. I presumed this was to stop people using the pulley screw to unload the belt. Another change was that the hole in the aux tensioner arm for unloading the belt changed from hex to Tx.

The auto electrician once told me my pulley is seized on
taking the alternator apart and attempting to remove it

in an anticlockwise direction

Just before an unscheduled trip from Brisbane to Sydney
which went ok after 500k when the sphinctering stopped

Yep it's INA for me

and Contitech belts

May be worth inspecting the AC pulley bearing as well while there (especially on these D5 engines) - replacing the bearing also gives access to adjusting the shims for clutch gap
