Wow, that’s rotted through badly.
Love an update. And agree with above. FRF might be able to help?
Have you thought about longlife or any Stainless steel exhaust companies?

the joint between the back box and intermediate pipe is the weak point in the whole system.

Mine corroded about three years ago, so I removed the two sections, bought a repair flange and welded it on to the original pipes. Still good and has extended the life of the original system by, hopefully, a good few years.

Fair play, that’s a neat weld 👍

Thanks all. I'll give Rufe/FRF a call tomorrow and see what their price is, had assumed it'd be OTT but even £300+ could make sense if it lasts longer.

In the meantime I was considering seeing of one if these could at least see me through until the next MOT (Oct), and evaluate then as to whether to just replace the whole thing again:

I don't have access to a welder, so the only other option would be cut off the flange and use something like this:

I would go for the second option. Clean the existing pipes up as best you can, use plenty of exhaust putty and clamp the repair section up tight. It will at least buy some time to evaluate the options without being rushed into a decision.

Myriad Automotive Ltd in Walsall. They list on ebay - where I purchased mine from - user name: myriad-exhaust. They manufacture every conceivable repair section in both stainless and mild steel. The quality was superb and the price reasonable and the service was spot on. hth.

Did you go for stainless or mild ?It looks like stainless in the picture.
I believe the exhaust is mild grade stainless from the factory.

Yes, stainless. Welded with stainless wire.

Both middle and rear parts "expired" apparently, so they can't get hold of them anymore

Autodoc have a Bosal rear box, but the middle is of out of stock and apparently too big for them to deliver to the UK anyway.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of where to find a semi-decent replacement??

How clean do I need to get it? Shiny shiny?? Or just get rid of loose rust?
