Inspired by a conversation on another thread, how far did you travel to get your car?

A friend and I flew from Glasgow Airport (a couple of miles from my home) to Heathrow, got picked up by the seller, driven to his home and then did a 440 mile drive back.

Just under 800 miles - Helston (Cornwall) and back.

About a 350 mile round trip consisting of a 5 hour train journey to Bridgend and roughly a 3 and a half hour drive back.

Once travelled 11000 miles to view a car and 11000 back, then the car was shipped 10500 miles to the UK and I had a 450 mile drive to collect and 450 mile return.

Cool

In 1982,I went by The boat train, via Dover to Brussels,to look for a Mini. I found an Innocenti 120
hatchback, with the rad behind the grill. drove it home on the Belgium plates, not exactly legal. I Have never seen a car rust so fast! I think it was left outside the factory to rust for a while, before they gave it a couple of top coats. It was stolen before the rust worm devoured it completely. I vowed never to own another Italian car,and never did.

Regards,Keith

About three miles, but the garage that sourced it for me drove around 200 miles each way.

For me Hebburn Tyne & Wear - Salisbury in my s60 (I did overnight at my parents in Newbury ) - 330Miles(ish) then pick up the XC60 & drive all the way back again.

Only reason was really I decided to swap my car whilst at the parents over Xmas/ New Year. Went to view a couple local ish to them & bought one.

I would add that I do travel 80miles each way for servicing as the local dealers aren't the best.

It was a rather rare British built car which when new was shipped to Sydney. I saw it when it was 56 years old and shipped it back to the UK and kept it for almost 14 years before selling it to its new owner
