Anyone know what this connector is for?
As I was changing out my temperature sensor on the engine I noticed a plug that was not connected to anything and didn't seem to have anything close by to connect it to so I got curious as to what it might be for.

I got one of those on my 1990 LH 2.4 745 .... I don't worry about it. It just danglers there!!
However, I am sure if I looked at a wiring schematic I could work it out what it was. Last edited by bob12; May 23rd, 2018 at 18:11. |

It would be helpful if we knew what colour it is? Looks like it might be green/violet or possibly violet/green but difficult to be certain.

Green with a red trace. It's held on to the engine with a small metal clip to hold it downwards (that's on the 745 breaker as the proper car is currently at the doctors) - Bob

After going through several wiring diagrams, i found a number of possibilities.
One is the feed for the cold start injector (not used on LH-Jetronic), second is ambient air temperature sensor, third is the feed for the electromagnetic air-con clutch - there are probably more but after half an hour going through three different diagrams plus one for carburettor cars (might have been the temp sensor for non-injection) i couldn't find any other references to it. Might have missed something, eyes got a bit glaxzed after staring at a screen full of schematics!

It's certainly in the right place for the air-con clutch trigger wire. If the car doesn't have air-con, that may be your answer.
