Question Anyone know what this connector is for?

As I was changing out my temperature sensor on the engine I noticed a plug that was not connected to anything and didn't seem to have anything close by to connect it to so I got curious as to what it might be for.

And I know... My engine bay needs some cleaning

Pre-wiring for cruise control maybe?
Thought the same when I had my 940 Always laughed at the Swedish term for CC "Konstantfart"

Cheers

I'd be suprised if it's prewired for cruise as my 940 is from 91, but if it truly is that I'd be happy

I got one of those on my 1990 LH 2.4 745 .... I don't worry about it. It just danglers there!!

However, I am sure if I looked at a wiring schematic I could work it out what it was.

I'm not worried about it, more just curious what it might be for.

It would be helpful if we knew what colour it is? Looks like it might be green/violet or possibly violet/green but difficult to be certain.

Green with a red trace. It's held on to the engine with a small metal clip to hold it downwards (that's on the 745 breaker as the proper car is currently at the doctors) - Bob

After going through several wiring diagrams, i found a number of possibilities.

One is the feed for the cold start injector (not used on LH-Jetronic), second is ambient air temperature sensor, third is the feed for the electromagnetic air-con clutch - there are probably more but after half an hour going through three different diagrams plus one for carburettor cars (might have been the temp sensor for non-injection) i couldn't find any other references to it.

Might have missed something, eyes got a bit glaxzed after staring at a screen full of schematics!

It's certainly in the right place for the air-con clutch trigger wire. If the car doesn't have air-con, that may be your answer.
