I gather you are not (yet) a VOC member, cos if you were you'd have read of the Sussex Section under the "club Officials" listing on page 4. The section meets every 4th Wednesday at the Castle Hotel, Bramber (halfway between Worthing and Shoreham, and inland a bit), where there is a dedicated room for the gathered ensemble. Nominal start of 7.30 for 8pm, but not formal (unless there is a guest speaker - very rare!).

The section summer speciality is attending car shows: the Bentley Volvo Gathering is the most notorious, as its a sort of Southern BKV but without the concours judging. However, other group displays are arranged - not necessarily for classic Volvos, so newer ones can be displayed on the club stand too.

Just about every post-war Volvo model can be mustered amongst friends and the section members, and one family from Burgess Hill with a pair of Volvos are regular attendants.

Hmmmmm - very remiss of the Moderators in not using this opportunity to attract more Sussex members. I would have replied earlier but my computer died and I couldn't get to another until now, but I hope you are interested enough to ask for more info via a PM.

Just seen that three responders to this thread (stedman, doodlebug and OldBlueVolvo) are all local to Worthing - please drop in on the next section meeting so we'll all know each other in the future.....

Jen - are you able to take your notorious (in the nicest possible way!) 262 to Bentley again this year? Might theme it on PVs but not sure yet. Jose has sold his fantasic blue one - shame!

Yes I am already a Junior member of this forum.
I am not a full member of the Volvo Owners Club at the moment, although I was when I bought my first 740, nearly eight years ago.

I prefer this medium because of its interactivity, and I hope it doesnt preclude me from attending meets etc...

Hi Shaun,

There's a Volvo garage in Lancing (just outside Worthing) that has a yard full of old Volvos (mostly 700/900s last time I was there). I'm sure this is the place you're thinking of. They break cars for parts and keep them on the shelf, but have some cars for sale too. I've bought a few parts from there in the past.

Ingleside Garage - Zoom into the map and you'll see their yards. They're very handy for me, being local.
