Default Auxiliary idler pulley torque setting

Hi all – in preparation for my belt changes over the weekend, I'd just like to check if anybody knows the torque setting for the auxiliary idler pulley – VIDA isn't telling me, and Haynes only has the auxiliary tensioner at 35Nm.

Or is it just 'tight'?

Cheers

Paul

I tightened mine up to 'tight enough so that it won't come undone'. I found this torque setting in the My Brain manual under chapter 3: Experience.

It's about 20 which isn't a lot so go easy and don't use the tensioner bolt to tension the spring as it's takes more than 20Nm to hold the tension whilst you insert the locking pin. Use a T60 torx.

If you worry a little about bolt torque, put some mid strength blue loctite on with it.

Vida says the belt tensioner has 2 x m8 screws. The standard torque for m8 is given as 24Nm. Vida also gives 35Nm for the mechanical belt tensioner, whatever that is?

Hi Guys.

Mine's a VAG D5252T engine. I'm struggling to find what the torque setting is for the aux belt idler pulley bolt. Would it be safe to go with the 20Nm mentioned here for the D5?

Thanks.
