Engine: T5: Hello - New T5 owner with questions.

First of all... Hello!
Picked up a new-to-me 2005 V70 T5 (auto) today.
Considering its 200K+ miles, the interior and bodywork are in remarkably good condition, with just the parking sensors and alarm showing faults after i cleared everything in vida.

As with any used car, the first thing i want to do is a full and comprehensive service including the cambelt and gearbox oil.

So my main question - which order should i do everything in, as it will no doubt be spread out over the coming weeks/months when i get free weekends.

Gearbox oil flush
Cambelt + aux belt
Engine oil + filters
PCV (and throttlebody clean)
coolant flush

Also is there anything else i should stick on the list to do in the short term?

looks good to me, dont bother fixing the alarm unless you are in a high crime area or happen to have £200 remaining after doing all the servicing!

Stage ZERO Tuning List:
Spark plugs
Air, fuel and oil filter service
Trans fluid flush
Inspect & replace vacuum lines and IC piping rubber
Upgrade to silicone hoses where possible
Test / replace 02 sensors
Verify proper fuel flow using a fuel pressure tester and replace fuel pumps if needed
Clean / replace injectors
Clean intercooler / intercooler plumbing
Compression and cylinder leak down test

Hi Neo_VR!

Gearbox oil service would be my top priority, followed by PCV.

Live with it for a bit and see what you think before spending a fortune!

You'll probably want a new TCV (turbo control valve) at that mileage if turbo isnt boosting as well as expected.

On my S40 T5 these need changing around 100,000 miles (though on S40 it is located right next to the turbo so more affected by heat than on the S60 T5).

It's the small black plastic valve with 3 vaccum lines going into it, clipped to the side of the airbox.

Value is 30 ish if you look online. Pierberg boost pressure value.

It depends if you have any service history with the car?
If not, then personally I wouldn't drive it even another mile until I had at least looked at the cambelt to see its condition.

Re the parking sensors - check the N/S cargo area well where you access the reversing light, just below the boot floor where the CD player/disc holder sits or would sit - there is a switch that controls the sensors which can easily get turned off.......and then forgotten about - it shows up as a parking sensor fault if the switch is in the off position.............

As for service history - thats an interesting one. It has a stamped service book, but as it was a trade-in vehicle, any actual invoices have been removed, so quite what was done at each service is a mystery.
Given the condition of the rest of the car im assuming its been looked after for the majority of its life, until possibly the last 12mo where im guessing that it changed owners as the different stamp was in the book

Cambelt is in reasonable condition ie not obviously cracking - however i will get it replaced as a matter of course.

At the moment im going to concentrate on the gearbox and PCV as the cam cover is coated in oil from the oil cap.. ill probably drop the sump while im at it.

Theres also a issue with the idle/light throttle dropping and then flaring as the ETM tries to catch it - but this could be PCV/dirty throttle/air leak related... and it doesnt do it all the time and there are no codes generated so ill have to spend some more time with VIDA.

If all the previous stamps in the book are the same garage, ring the garage and ask them about the service history. Given the computer systems that most garages use for accounts, they should be able to track what they have done on the car even if it wasn't a Volvo dealer - the worst they can say is no - it is worth a call.
