Default V50/S40 Tyres recommendations

I'm needing 2 new rear tyres after just 20k in the car and am looking to see what kind of tyre wear and what tyres you have. I didn't expect them to wear out this fast as usually get 35-40k out of a set of rears, the tyres are Pirelli P7's and the car isn't driven especially hard.

Has anyone else worn out a set this quickly, i did have 2 new wheels on the offside and the insurance repair centre checked and adjusted alignment again so i'm also wondering whether they mal-adjusted the thing

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Rich

you say the insurance company checked the alignment,by that i take it that the car has been in an accident? front tyres on the s/v40 are prone to early wear, but not the rear ones, i suggest you get a 4 wheel laser alignment done.

I would agree that you may have a problem and need the alignment checked. I had a V70 classic and managed to get 55k out of the rears, the only reason that I changed them was that after 3 years the comppound went hard and they began to drum. On the front I was getting about 38k.
As a replacement I would recommend Michelins. A bit dearer but on my recently changed Saab 95 3.0TiD I got 40k out of the fronts and the backs are still going strong at 46k.

Theme here seems to be Pirelli !

Ta for the reply guys. I forgot to mention that the insurance claim was to replace 2 wheels damaged by a pothole - I didn't think that the alignment had gone out as I was driving for a week afterwards and the car felt okay apart from the vibrations caused by buckled rims.

I'm getting better wear out of mine - fronts lasting 22k and rears only half worn after 22k now. Still using P7's, with the geometry sorted the car is definitely kinder on it's rears.

Hi from South Africa,

had my V50 with OE fitted P7's and they were removed on 42k - as I'm in the tyre industry, measured them up and they were good to go to approx 70k.

Greetings,
Ary
