Default v50 2.0D engine blown

hi all,
I was unfortunate to have the engine give out big time in my 05 plate v50 2lt d , on further inspection its not looking good, at the very least its 4 conrods, a look at the crank, new injector (just one needed). But may be even more extreme, scored barrel and such. Anyway im wondered if I was to try and sell the car as it is how much would it be worth. The car is the se spec but with other extras such as full leather, electric seats, winter pack, new tyres, full service, tow br, rear sensors roof bars, do you think I could get £1000 for it?
Does anyone know where i could source a second hand lunp to put in, ive looked at reconditioning this engine but with the costs to pay someone it will be to much, if i was albe to work on it myself then it would be worth it.
Any ideas please,
thanks
Ryan

Hi
sorry to hear about your engine. You may be able to purchase a short block at a reasonable price. I had a very quick look on ebay I reckon you could get a low ish miles engine complete for about £1500 you could also sale your old head if it's usable. Assuming you car has not got a lot of miles and good condition you should get more than £4K.
Thanks
Mark

well its done a few miles, 172,000 , but its been trouble free, and full volvo serviced, Im the second owner ut they are mostly motorway miles, im doing 120miles a day commute. The reason it blow is an injector failed, somehow the sump filled with diesel then went up the and filled the cylinders via the overflow the wrong way, so the car was then running on the sump oil at will rather than the controlled fuel being injected via the ecu, with no control over anything, the revs went sky high, then higher still (at which point i was accelerating faster even with the keys out) then bang.
I think the car pre engine blow would be worth upto £4000, I think I now want to put in another engine from a breakers (cheapest option) as I havent got the £2300 needed to get a recon one fitted.
Does anyone know which other engines will go straigh in, im guessing the 2lt D from both the c30 and the s40 will go straight in. Ive heard the talk about volvo using other engines though?
Any help greatly recieved.
Also if you know of a volvobreakers, etc..
thank you

Hi Ryan get down to your nearest/best engine rebuilder in your area and go pick his brains and see if you can get them to rebuild one up from the bits you supply although if you supply parts their will be no warrenty.
