Default 2024 XC40 Recharge Twin Plus - Not charging on Pod Point

Hi All,

Great to be back. Driveway feels complete again with a Volvo sat on it!

Wifey recently took delivery of a brand new MY24 XC40 Recharge Twin Plus as company hack. Looks great in the sage green colour. Love the Android infotainment.

Good god it shifts too. It's very sure of itself, even if the suspension is ludicrously noisy and clonky over undulations in the road. Guess it's an EV thing.

Question - we have an 'old' Pod Point 7KW charger which is used to charge a Peugeot e208 frequently, and the charger is set to charge only between 00:30-04:30 on Octopus Go hours.

On 3 occasions now the Pod Point has failed to deliver charge to the car. We have plugged the car in outside the schedule and the dash shows as 'initialising' (as there is no power being delivered) but then doesn't take a charge once it hits 00:30. On one or two occasions it has worked.

What are we doing wrong?

Should we have the charger set to charge all the time and let the car determine the schedule (in which case I'm not sure the Peugeot supports doing the same thing hence setting this on the Pod Point?)

Cheers!!

Hi, the car looks good, pretty sure you will get used to the occasional noise from the suspension, it’s not something I take any notice of in ours.

With regard to charging, we have an Ohme wall charger and OVO Energy Anytime tariff. The Ohme is set to charge 70% by 7am, and the car’s charging timer is switched off (the Ohme timer didn’t work when I also had the car’s timer set).

I usually plug the cable in around 6pm, at around 10pm, the wall charger automatically starts charging and will sort out the charging to complete by 7am - that gives us the Anytime tariff of 10p kWh.

Hope that helps.

Thanks - so in essence we have the same set up as you. Set the timer on the charger not the car (timed charging is disabled in the car).

Perhaps it's a Pod Point software issue or something of that nature.

We're hoping to have a Zappi installed at some point soon to use excess solar, but this is annoying nonetheless.

Cheers!

I have a Podpoint for my Polestar, I always set the charge schedule from the car.

When you plug your car in and it ‘handshakes’ do you have the yellow light on the car charge point? If you do this means it’ll do what it’s told by the charger. As mine is set by the car, I always have a blue light - if it’s anything else there’s an issue.

Assume you have the charge limit set to 90% or similar and have 32A set in the charging screen?
