So - all done following excellent write up on here so thank you.
There were a few minor changes for 2010 model but essentially the same.

Only two issues !

1) The jubilee clip on one of the intercooler hoses snapped so I need to get a replacement. The original is more complex that just a regular jubilee clip as it attaches to the end of the hose, presumably to stop the clip falling off ?
- for today I will end up with a regular clip but investigate the volvo part.

2) Bigger problem. I shut the bonnet and drivers side is latched but passenger side (UK car) didn't, but now i can't release the bonnet. I didn't think I touched anything on the latches during the work but I guess I did. If I pull the release handle in car the cable feels tight and there is no pop / release of the bonnet. Essentially it is shut tight on the drivers side.

I have read similar tales of woe from other intercooler swaps and it seems that I will need to get the skid guard off again. I tried last night but I think I need to remove the bumper again before I can release the skid guard. Then I'm trying to get something (coat hanger wire hook etc) up under the drivers side to some how hook the latch ?-

Any tips ?

Thanks

OK - Bonnet open.

Here's how I released the drivers side latch for anyone else that gets stuck. In fact it was very easy - lying on back arm up between intercooler pipe and can see and reach the latch. Then to the right hand side of the latch as you look at it is what looked like a hinged piece of metal. Pushing up on this and the bonnet popped open (to the second catch on the passenger side - then the bonnet latch works to release that).

So , now that I have it open what am I looking for as if I shut the bonnet then exactly the same happens. The drivers side latches shut but the passenger side doesn't and the interior bonnet release doesn't release so I crawled back under the car again.

I can make the driver side lock latch shut with a screwdriver, but the passenger side latch will not close with a screwdriver.

Given I didn't take the slam panel off I am at a loss as to what I need to check.

All sorted. I think in lowering the radiators I had not got them to go back in to place on the vertical pins that drop down from the slam panel. I lowered everything and then freed up the cables and tightened back up and the bonnet catches all working as they were before.

I also cleared all the codesand they've not come back. Car feels much better so job done !

Thanks again

Dear Members of this community.
I need to replace my intercooler as well.
Found this to be the best reference to do so, but I can not get clear pictures.
Can somebody guide/instruct me on how to do this?
Thanks and best regards, Marc

The pictures are displaying fine for me (Google Chrome) - maybe it's a browser/software issue. Have you tried a different web browser?

Cheers
Ian.

Thanks Ian,

Tried again (at the office which might be the problem) without success on various browsers. Will try again tonight at home.
