There are now over 30000 orders placed worldwide ... without any having been delivered , Much the same success as the original xc90 in 2002 , UK had to wait a year whilst USA sucked up all the 50000 production for the year .

New XC90 starting to roll out in the showrooms now ..

Volvo have employed another 1500 factory workers in Sweden recently to cope .

We're going to Johnsons in Oxford on 6th/7th of June to have a look and we'll take it from there. It'll come down to the numbers of course, as these things inevitably do.

I'm desperate for adaptive cruise though - OMG.
Might see you there too. I've arranged a test drive on the 6th. Unfortunately I wont be ordering one - just interested in getting a look round and a drive :-)
I had one of the early ones (54 plate 163bhp - still have it and just rolled past 230k)
Be great to see the difference 11 years has made.

Cheers
Ian.

We've got a First Edition coming in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it. I specced a T8 to the same standard and it was around £85k so I'm not sure where the £4-5k difference between D5 and T8 mentioned above comes from. Think it's a bigger gap!

Having already had a hybrid I wanted to carry on. The price difference between the T8 and the D5 on comparable specs by the time the incentives are taken off is only around £4-5K.
Interesting, thank you.

Have you any idea how long it'll take you to recoup that £4-5K in fuel savings?

We're going on the 6th now as well; I'll be the exhausted looking Dad with 3 young boys and an irritated wife

I have kept a track on the V60 and after 15 months I have saved £1800 on fuel. This accounts for the cost of electric and is based upon what I was getting from a standard D5 as an average. So the cost will take around 3-4 years to recoup. This does not account for tax or other savings as for company car it saves around £1500 per year. If you take this into account then the saving is recovered very quickly. Also get to right the value of the car down in year one. On the cost difference I don't know where you get £85K from, I have just done a run through on the Volvo website and a T8 comparable to an FE is £77K, take off the £5K government grant and you are at £72K thus the £5K difference. I have run through the figures very carefully before buying, if the difference were that much as quoted would not have purchased a new one.

Cool

As well as my 2006 XC90 I'm fortunate in having an immaculate 1972 Volvo 1800ES sports which is my summertime hobby and plaything!

My local Volvo dealer has just enquired if they can borrow my 1800ES as a showroom exhibit to produce a bit of extra interest alongside the new XC90 for their forthcoming launch promotion.

Now they've done this in the past and always offered me a courtesy car for the duration of the loan , somehow this time I don't think it's going to be a new model XC90....if only!
