So... something rather special arrived with us today. It was registered the year that Bells Motor Group was established. Our MD has been looking out for one for quite some time, and he finally got one!....

My brother in law has one of these and a spare engine for it as well. Its been sat in his garage for thirty odd years now, I imagine that its a little more than a giant mouse nest now.

None of our original technicians are still with us unfortunately, but we do have a few staff who have been with us from the beginning! |

That is remarkable .. There must be less than a handful of dealers from the late 60's or even early 70's still with volvo . Some must remember Raeburn Road :-)

Beautiful P1800. My dream but have to settle for a 480 for now!!
However my 480 still has the original BELLS stickers and dealer plates.

I go back to 1973 when I had my first Volvo - a 145S. Started buying parts from the parts department - when it was located 'round the back and up on the first floor, accessed by an external loading ramp'. Mainly a parts customer over the years, but have been a continuous Volvo owner since and have made many trips there over the years - always, always very good service Now, if only I had a penny for every pound spent over the years I would be a rich man

Just had a look at the original pricing on this. Apparently we had to Supply and Fit a Sunroof into the vehicle along with the Immobiliser and Mudflaps!.... Was invoiced out at a Grand Total of £16235 on 10/08/1994 to a local customer to us, who now has an XC60 and had a V50 prior to that... good to see they've stayed with Volvo and that their 480 is still going!.... |

Hi Marc, Good name & well spelt! My 480 has had a couple of owners since your orignal owner, but they didn't do anything with it. I'm basically the 2nd owner. I have the original Bells invoice and almost all the service history with it. Invoice shows Bells fitting the SR, which is no surprise as the 480GT didn't come with one (good way to use up non-SR bodyshells by Volvo!!). SR still works perfectly. Very good it is. Immobilier was stripped out a few years ago but mudflaps (super rare in 480 circles) still all good. I did have to grind of the screws to remove but after 25 years that's OK! She still only has 37K miles and has clearly been well looked after. Biggest issue still being spares availability. Nothing available new so most are kept on the road using end of life cars. £16k in '94 was a hell of a lot of money. Works out to about £35k today!! Will try and pop over at some time as I'm not far from you. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Marc.
