  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Default heated rear screen!!

hi, noticed for a while now that my heated rear screen takes forever to clear!!, i work 45 minutes away and it still has'nt fully cleared by the time i get to work, has anyone got a solution to the problem (i don't mean climb in the back and wipe it!!!)or is this the norm, thanx

Hi,

Clean the contacts for the screen element and make sure they are clean.

You can also check the element on the window and apply a repair paint to those areas where there is damage. Helps to improve conduction of electricity..

Like CTCNetwork said, clean the contacts, check the fuse etc...

I had a few broken lines in the element where someone had shut the boot n the V40 on something, cutting the resistor. I bought a repair pen and, if they are properly prepped it works a treat and you con't even tell.

hi, there is no break in the lines on the screen, they all work and clear the screen but not very fast, you say clean the contacts/elements, take it they are on the screen!!, and do i need anything chemicals or other to do a proper job, thanx

You should see the connections on each side of the window. Usually a blade connection..

Just remove and refit a couple of timeto refresh the connection - cuts new line in the metal..

I would also do the same for the fuse. Remove and refit..

It may be worth considering a check of the body ground points and cleaning them up.. Can't do any harm I would have thought, and may have a benefit for you...
