Hi Derek

Apologies for the delay.

The car was running well since fitting the 123 in the Summer. It wouldn’t start following some work I did in December to address a cold start issue I’ve had for some time. That did involve a replacement starter solenoid and a new main relay. I’m pretty sure it’s probably something I’ve done and am trying to stay focused on that area but there might be a touch of investigation ‘drift’!

Once I nail it I’ll post my findings however embarrassing!

Good evening everyone

Just to let you know I have replaced the Starter Motor and that has done the trick! She fires up ok, still no Cold Start injection but I can live with that for now. Perhaps there was a problem with the ‘Starter engaged’ signal from the Starter to the ECU? Who knows. As Derek so rightly pointed out, go back to what you last fiddled with!

Thanks for all your input and patience!

Happy motoring

The cold start injector gets power only when the engine is cranking and takes a feed from the starter solenoid via the thermo timer switch. So did you re-connect that wire (white wire numbered 18 I think)?

He’s got a ‘71, no thermo time switch.
