Default Shafted!!

Hi, does anyone know if a V70 driveshaft is the same as an S60?

And also, can an ABS ring be replaced or is it a case of new drive shaft?

Thanks in advance, Steve. (2000 S60 2.0Tse)

I have actually just bought half a CV joint!!! from a scrap yard which has a new ABS ring on it, because I imagined that Volvo would use the same CV joints on most models to save money, therefore I could simply knock out the end of the driveshaft on mine and insert the new CV joint with "unsnapped" ABS ring and Bob's your uncle.

Obviousley I could be very wrong but the part was so cheap and makes a bit of sense, I couldn't resist!

I'll add photo's tomorrow wheather I win or lose!! (If I have time..... kids off school now).

You can easily replace the reluctor ring by itself....£4 on ebay.Takes about 30 minutes.Remove the old ring,
No need to heat them up, just buff the CV joint clean, and tap on the new ring carefully

S60/V70/S80 drive shafts all the same I think ( on 2001 to 2004 models ) . The auto and manual drive shafts are different and there is a difference between offside and nearside on both types . I do wonder though sometimes , the selling price for a used S80 auto drive shaft is about £20 and for a V70 £35 but they are exactly the same thing and have seen some breakers asking £80 to £100 on ebay , good money if you can get it .

Just remembered the S80 2.9 shafts are different and also the 4wd versions in S60/V70/S80.
