Default Car not connecting to internet

For the last 2 days my xc90 hasn't been able to connect to the internet via the built in car modem. I have no 'world' symbol at the top of my sensus and none of my built in apps can connect.
This happened about 18 months ago and I can't remember what i did to fix it..
Any suggestions?..where is the built in modem located.?
Cheers

Are you using a data sim in your car or connecting via your phone or home network, the sim holder is under the cargo area floor to the right of the spare wheel. Without a data sim you cant access internet unless you do so via your phone or home network.
Have you checked that the correct settings are ticked in the communications page in Sensus.

Hi yeoman,

I had the same issue... tried a factory reset of the Sensus but nothing happened... while I was waiting for my appointment with the dealer, I changed the driver profile from mine to “guest” and all was working again with the WiFi. When Incame back to my profile, it was working again too.

When I finally had my appointment with the dealer they could not find any error and said it was all OK...

Try the profiles switching and see if it changes anything...

Ed, I had a similar problem. My original
SIM worked perfectly when first installed. Settings were made automatically. We could use the modem as a wifi source on long roadtrips w/ no problems. Then it stopped. I replaced the SIM and the service was restored - I could see the World icon and everything. Now, though, I can't see the name of the car when I try to connect, with either of two phones or any PCs. This time around, I took the extra step of registering the SIM's code with my data provider (Google Project Fi). Now I know that I'm getting data coverage from them to the car. I just can't see the car's name on my wifi receiving devices (it has always been VolvoXC90 when it was working). Now I don't see that or anything similar.

I wonder if you have accidentally unticked one of the relevant boxes in the Sensus menu regarding connections? You should have a tick in the 'use my car as a wifi hotspot' or similar wording.
Have you refreshed your knowledge of the connection requirements and sequence as found in the Sensus's on-board manual? Its easy to miss something that later seems obvious.

If so, you may have a fault with the wi-fi system in the car. Have you tried setting your phone to be a wifi hotspot for the car, which is easily set? Does that work? Now try resetting from that point, methodically, so that the car is the hotspot again.
