T5 Turbo

Would I gain anything by replacing my T5 turbo unit with a T5R
Unit or would changing the wastegate do the same job?

Assuming your car is stock the turbo size will not be limiting your power.

Cheapest fix is a bleed valve (available from www.kalmar-union.com among others) which should give you a nice 20bhp boost.

Or you could get a ECU upgrade by someone like www.swecartuning.co.uk or www.volvotuning.co.uk.

A new turbo will be more than this and in you car's current state won't give you any significant advantage.
