Cool Looking at Buying

At present driving a Mitsubishi Delcia and towing ABI Nightstar, single axle (1250kg). Kids no longer interested so looking at changing car, but not van.

Seen a 2001 Volvo V70 140 petrol automatic, 60k for £5995.

Would this be ok towing ?

Any problems/ issues with this model ?

Any recommendations ?

kind regards

Elcid

Hi,

Should be Ok for towing what you have.

Issue: ETM failure. Depending on style of driving (town/motorway) the ETM will likely fail at about 100K miles.

Worth checking the owner for what recalls/upgrades have been installed (free throttle module clean and software update?).

The cost of exchange is coming down to about £250/£300 but can be up to £700
So one a price is agreed - make sure you knock £1k off for the ETM...
That won't cheer the owner up.

Des. . .

Default tow car

hi i used to tow with a v70 auto 140 it was fine but i would prefer the manual for better control if you buy the auto you will have to get an aditional oil cooler fitted which helps cool the gearbox oil as the standard one isnt good enough if you tow cheers gary
