Default Overdrive light flashing on and off

My OD red light has just started to flash on and off when engaged. It starts off fine but after a minute or so down the highway develops the flashing. It is not dropping in and out of OD and the box is working as it should. Before I start investigating the issue further (wiring contacts/switch/OD relay) has anyone else come across this issue before? Any thoughts are much appreciated thanks.

The light is just an indicator that the OD is switched on with the switch, It's in series with a wire that goes from position 87 on the OD relay under the bonnet and earth which is made by the bulb housing to the dash. Easy first check is at the relay. Wire maybe loose or corroded. Then pop the light out of the dash and check at that end. The fault might just cure itself with you handling the wires but best to check it through using a meter etc for 12v and continuity. With car parked engine off, put it into top and switch OD on with ignition on. Light should come on and the solenoid should click along with the relay.

Thanks Derek

I checked bulb contact and cleaned etc and now works a treat.
Also checked the solenoid (looks like the original) and rubber grommet/cover has completely perished beyond recognition so may consider replacing the unit and not have to worry about it failing in the future.

Cheers

I don't know if anyone supplies just the rubber cap. When bad you can get some corrosion under there and the wires can break off. Not uncommon. You could ask George at the Oz 123GT site, he maybe able to help.
