Not sure if i read the SOLENOID is blowing a fuse or the starter ?
Oh? Must be a later addition. There isn't on mine, but mine is a 1998 model. Must be a heck of a fuse, what's it's rating?

We are talking the New S40 here hopefully !
It is not a fuse as we know it more a thinned down piece of metal , in a plastic insulated housing , it must be 200A +

Your 1998 S40 is one of the most trouble free volvos.

Clan is right like always, there is a fuse on the lead going from the battery to starter, so I just soldered it, because it was soldered originaly. Replaced starter and it started, but quite hard. So i think glow plugs are dead because obd still finds p0380 glow plugs fault and because of that old weak starter couldn't turn the engine and it was drawing loads of current trying to turn it and it killed the fuse. Bloody french engine. It has stupid plastic thermostat housing aswell that needs changing and stupid plastic throttle body that is distorted and I was chamfering it so it wouldn't stick. Well atleast if someone will have one loud click and no crank your starter needs replacing.
