Default Please help s40 won't start won't crank

Hello, so I have not starting s40 2.0d. I only had click from the starter. Tried to charge the battery and same thing one click and no crank. I replaced starter solenoid, bench tested starter and solenoid connecting it straight to the battery and it works fine. Fitted it and same thing one click that comes from solenoid engaging but no crank. Then i found tripped fuse on the starter loom between battery and starter. I shorted that fuse with small wire it turned the engine twice, it didnt start and second time when i tried to start same one click from solenoid. weird thing when i check faults with cheap obd dongle it says p0380 glow plug relay. but if it was anything to do with glow plug it would atleast crank and it wouldn't affect fuse on the battery to starter loom. I checked all relays all fuses, everythings fine. Can starter stick when it's fitted even if on bench test it was running. Or can it be to weak. Because I don't understand what else can be wrong on that battery wire only starter and alternator connected. Maybe anyone have any ideas. Thank you.

Checked and cleaned ground wire. Was clean. Just noticed that little wire I fitted in the blown fuse is blown aswell. Question is is it because it's too small or because something is shorting but there's only starter solenoid and alternator in this circuit. Wire I usedto short the fuse was 0.75 electric cable. Twisted 4 of them together.

Voltage drop test the starter live, ground and solenoid connector and post up your results.

It's about £60 a time to replace the battery lead . If the fuse is blowing and the starter isn't working properly it cant be anything other than the starter .

Yes, the starter motor is unfused, taking it's power through an enormous thick red wire direct to the battery. The solenoid is fused, but the fix is not a strip of wire. If the fuse is blowing, the fault needs to be found and solved.

There IS a fuse in the main battery lead to the starter and alternator located near the + terminal in the lead .
Not sure if i read the SOLENOID is blowing a fuse or the starter ?
