Default November/December gear box software update

I saw a thread where someone had a recent service and the gearbox felt better.
https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a801515970036d

States a gearbox update so have many had this applied and has it made a difference?

I find my self shouting at the car these days at every round about I come to as it drops to 1st for no reason etc. I tried dynamic all the time but that is also tiresom as it revs out the rattly 4 pot again for no reason then won't change up past 6th once cruising.

I want to like my v90 d5 more but I just can't at the moment.

XC90 d5 2016 serviced Jan -seems to shift a little better-not massive difference-drive in normal mode and fine when moving off-never going to be rapid for such a large car.

Indeed the v90 never is going to be a performance car I just wish I could enjoy the many good points more but not being constantly irritated by the gear box.

Someone on here put a post up a while ago about putting the car in offroad mode and setting off and powering it out off offroad mode until it changes to normal comfort mode to reset gearbox. To stop the thump thump thump as you slow down and gears drop down.
(offroad mode changes back to comfort mode above a certain speed)

No off road mode in a v90

I thought there probably isn't. In which case, there must be some hidden way of resetting the transmission to factory default setting, allowing it to re-learn the changes to match driving style.

There are some peculiar hidden controls on most cars. I have switched off the seatbelt warning chime on my Ranger pickup, driver's side only, using a combination of ignition, indicators and some other unrelated button. I can't remember to full sequence. Also the service required warning can be reset by switching the ignition on while holding the throttle pedal to the floor for something like ten seconds, but only after the reminder has shown up on the dash.

If only we had a list of what is possible for every car and the sequences required to actuate.

I felt the update improved my S90 in terms of accelerating faster in comfort, i still find its hit or miss though in terms of performance and swift gear changes. I prefer dynamic mode which seems to operate excellent nearly all round.

That's good to hear. I wouldn't expect the car to be "faster" but just have some more intelligence built into the software so the gearbox is not constantly surprised when you press the accelerator.

Had my D5 XC90 2018 first service last Friday. Car feels far smoother and gear shift is much better and not so lagging. Had to have broken power pulse hose done while I was waiting.
