John: ~
Nice coincidence, my car is the late RME – bought two within a week! £50:00 each ( my dad thought I was mad) Would you have any details relating to yours i.e. registration numbers or any photos—I can run them via the RM Club and see what history we may have on them and pass the details back if you wish.
I will also send a private mail with my email details etc.
Half shafts- many had suffered!

Here in Australia, the later 240s (after local production ended in the mid 1980s) are now hard to find in good condition, and it seems like values are climbing. Judging by what comes up on this forum, you don't yet have a big problem with that in the UK. The issue here is that in 1992 you could buy a Toyota Camry AND a Corolla for the price of a 240 estate, and so not very many 240s were sold new. Old estates were also a favourite for 'backpackers' driving around Australia -- reliable, rugged, and you can sleep in the back. Most of these got ruined.

A Friend of mine, who was a volvo mechanic in the UK did exactly that in the 90's!
He's really jealous of my 240 now
