Default 2011 Exec problems

3 months old, less than 3000 miles, and two warning messages already - "Anti Skid Failure - Service Required", and "AWD Failure - Service Required".
Took it to the dealer this afternoon, who diagnosed sensor faults in the AWD coupling. A half-hour fix once they get the parts I was told and "very unusual to see this on a new model" - gee thanks!
Whether it is easy to fix or not, this shouldn't occur on a new car, and I can only hope it isn't a portent of further problems to come.

At last - the sensor and probably other components have been replaced today - apparently. So I should have my skid control and AWD back. Going to Cornwall tomorrow so will watch out for re-occurence.

Another matter - the car was delivered to me with the wrong interior trim - I ordered the Aluminium trim and I got the wood trim instead. The salesman said he would have it replaced when they did the 3 month quality check - the check was done today also.

However, apparently the trim can't be changed because the trim on the front console (switch area) can't be removed since it is attached to some complicated wiring or something!!!!

Salesman is "very apologetic" and said he would try and make it up to me. Frankly I'm not amused!

Already paid for the 3-year servicing pack (pretty good deal actually).

I cannot believe you cannot swap wood for metal or vice versa. Cars are built to be able to build with one or another in a very effective way during bfactory build. I changed plastic for wood on my A4 and it took 30 minutes. This is dealer bull**** because they cannot be bothered. Any breaker will know how to do it.

What model is it?

you can change it easily on the S40/V50 - I think he's pulling your leg.

If the goods aren't the specification you ordered there are grounds for return anyway.

Dealer doesn't know what he's talking about (or is fibbing).

Absolutely agree, replacing the trim is very straightforward. Can't believe your dealer's attitude really. Maybe write an official letter that you want to return the car as the delivered product is not what you've ordered, that will scare them and make them walk faster

Thanks XCF for the link to the trim fitting.
However, and to answer Roy's question, my car is the 2011 Exec. The diagram XCF's response links to, shows the trim fitting for an earlier model, or at least for a non-Exec model. My car has an additional trim piece around the switches (radio/heater panel) which is the bit I am told is difficult/impossible to change (I don't really believe it is impossible). Also, the centre console is not easily removable, as it was on earlier models.

To be honest, the wood trim suits the beige leather intenior fine, it is just that my last two volvos have been high spec ones and have included the wood trim, so I wanted to try something different this time.

If I was to return the car it would be because I hate the hard ride - so unsuited to a "luxury" model. I know this is because of the 19" wheels and thinness of the rubber on them, and it's my fault for not taking a new Exec for a test drive before ordering one. You live and learn don't you!
