Default FORUM: - Articles Section - putting it to better use!

Guys

Having read and now written a few guides for various things and now see more users taking the time to do the same - which is great.

I had asked about getting the guides moved into the XC90 Articles section but am not sure what the rules are for that.

SO - lets have a poll !

Secondly - should that section be read only, ie for reference only?

I absolutely agree, they should be easy to find and not get lost somewhere between the "regular" posts

If it is read only it means that one of the forum admins needs to manage what goes in...

Thanks - glad I am not alone here!

I would have hoped that one of the "regulars" on here was/could be made a mod so that they can look after things.... any mods here?!?!

Thumbs up

Excellent idea - the Omega Forum I also subscribe to has one for Maintenance Guides/ How To guides. Makes it a lot easier than repeating similar questions every couple of weeks.
Best if they're locked as read only - otherwise you end up with threads on the end of them as well.
Gets my vote

100% gets my vote. I am a member of the Autobahnstormers forum. As a source of information for my LC its fantastic, with some extremely knowledgeable people contributing, and some must have threads for LC owners. From what I have seen over the last few weeks, the XC90 section of the Volvo Forum is heading the same way, and as with all things, the data/information needs to be properly managed to be useful. Without this kind of support, as the model gets older, we will start to find it very difficult to maintain the vehicles. Not only do we have to deal with the challenges that Volvo designed in, we will also need to deal with higher mileage and age related issues.

Absolutely, It’s not always easy to find what you want with the search. Something like the Articles section (which doesn’t seem to be used so I guess if we don’t get a specific section for “how too” we could use this.

A reference section would be great.

I think the least some of us can do is acknowledge and thank the guys who spend considerable time putting these "how to's" together.

Yes, good idea.

I guess we could do it ourselves by copying and pasting guides into that section if the moderators don't have the time. Might not be as neat but it would get things going.
