I hope I can add a little knowledge here rather than add any confusion, but from my (limited) experience of swopping spoilers-

The brackets are in two parts and are 'handed' - the left side is a mirror of the right. In Rut70V's first photo the bracket fitted around the hinge arm of the tailgate is the offside, yet pic2 showing the bracket attatched to the spoiler in place is the nearside. In the fitting instructions(from960kg) the pictures are of the nearside, the bracket shown requiring grinding down is the nearside bracket veiwed from the centre of the car.

When I took the brackets from my 850 to my V70(torslanda) I found the arms for the tailgate hinge, which the brackets fit around, were thicker on the V70 so the brackets would not fit. I ended up cutting part of the arm bracket away and using a longer bolt, fitting became one of those jobs needing three hands and long thin fingers, I think I also ended up using blobs of blu-tak to hold things in place while I got the bolts in. Does anyone know if there are different size brackets available? I was being a cheapskate so adapted what I had.

The job is definately easier with two pairs of hands, and try putting the spoiler in place temporarily with masking tape and blu-tak before trying to work out where the brackets go. If you see someone in a car park with a spoiler try asking if they mind you having a quick look at the brackets, seeing it for yourself can make it a lot easier.

Thanks for the pics. Mine has aready got brackets in picture 1 fitted (from original spoiler I guess)and the replacement spoiler came with the brackets pictured in picture 2 - the problem seems to be that bracket 2 wont fit over bracket 1 to allow bolts to pass through..... Hmmm, playtime I think

If you read in my first post with the small pics. you will see it says "handed" and these parts numbers are for the V70 which are thicker brackets and not the 850 part numbers.
So if you have trouble just order the part number!! that is why i put up the information.

I've got some brackets for mine and to be honest they don't look like what's been posted, best idea is to use some sort of bond or adhesive to prevent water getting under the spoiler and rusting the tailgate through.

I can post some pics of my recently fitted pics tomorrow if you lot want it.

It seems some members are having difficulty looking at and recognising a bracket, so i have taken pics. of my actual `97 V70 brackets the left side and the opposite handed, the right side. That brownish thingy is a discoloured clear plastic piece which is between the metal bracket and the block on the tailgate.....

I hope this will help clear up matters?

Well I started this thread and I'm still struggling. Bought my spoiler (said to be off 1998 V70) and complete with fixings. Fixings consist of two brackets and four screws. Attempting to add pictures showing bracket which is a one piece affair, not two bits as shown in other pics on this thread. Plus a pic showing bracket offered up to hinge on car. Can see that the 4 screws attach brackets to spoiler but don't see how bracket attaches to car. Help anyone?

If they are original `98 V70 then they changed how they fit!

You have part 2x 2a missing which is in my first pics. of parts numbers

Also it seems you are on the wrong side the slotted part to the spoiler faces back of car when fixed.
