XC70: Body Door trim removal (and replacement)

So, this is one of those "ask first before just pulling stuff apart" posts....

On my 2103 XC70 (D5 AWD), the large plastic trim on the bottom half of the driver's side passenger door is coming loose at the top. The drivers door itself looks like it will follow suit fairly soon.

I can see that there is tape between the trim and the door panel that looks like it has given up the ghost. So I need to replace it.

If I pull the trim panel out a little bit, I can see that there are white clips further down inside, so presumably the trim itself is held in place by these clips, which I presume push into holes in the door panels and then there is tape at the top and bottom edges of the trim panels?

I can order 3M automotive body moulding tape, which will presumably do the job admirably, but to do a proper job, I would like to remove the panels entirely, clean everything up and apply the new tape to the panels before putting them back in place.

So what's the best way to remove these panels? I'd like to break as few of the clips as possible and not damage the trim panels themselves. Do the clips just pop out fairly easily, or is there a specific knack to it?

Thanks, and yes it does. But I am actually talking about the exterior plastic trim on the outside of the doors.

Sadly, my VIDA is not playing ball with me and I don't know enough about Windows to fix it....

That is called the "Fender Widener"

Volvo say they are one time use and need to be replaced each time (which is rubbish)

It is however near impossible to remove them without breaking the clips

:-) Nope....still not those ones. It's the plastic trim panels on the bottom of the actual doors themselves that I am talking about.

Can you post a pic, i can't seem to recall plastic trim on the doors ?
