If it is a GT don't go chopping the body about - get a bsic 2 door car for doing that.

Is that the stock offset? A 7J wheel with that offset would surely foul on the inner arches? To maintain the right backspacing with a wheel that wide, from memory, the offset is about 0

Not sure about larger diameter wheels (make sure though that the overall rolling radius of the tyres isn't larger though) but I do have experience of much wider wheels. I personally wouldn't go for anything wider than 7J, having had a set of wheels that were the same backspacing, but 7.5 / 8J wide. The inboard part of the wheel & tyre was in the same place as the originals, but the outer edge was directly under the wheel arch lips, and as a result there was no way that the car could be lowered. As it was, the front arch lips were BFHed for clearance, but the rears were just about ok.

However the extra outboard wheel width up front (& resulting change in the geometry) made the steering very jittery on anything except a smooth surface, and also possibly contributed to wheel bearing issues too.

whats the great big alloy plate holding the rocker shaft in this thread (half way down this page):
http://amazon.forum.bilia.se/phpbb3/...=5316&start=30

Is it some aftermarket thing to offer less flex while at high revs, or some rocker assembly from an earlier(later?) model?

Hi asneddon

Its a sepperate rocker assembly; cuz these rockers are actually longer so they need to be offset. Will post a pic of the seperate assembly not installed tonight.

Ah, is it a >1.5:1 assembly? I figured there would just be offset bearings or something like that for those.

Looks like a nice bit of kit anyway.

I have fitted 7.5" x 18" wheels to my estate. Standard ride height though.
If you search through my thread below you will find details of offsets and tyre choice. Also a link to a very good wheel offset calculator.
